I designed my new packaging in Adobe Illustrator, using as little cardstock as possible for the final design.
We threw away alot of wasted paper and plastic from under the tree this year. With all the wasted garbage from the season, it’s a good time to admit my hindsight 20/20 on consumer packaging mistakes. With the New Year, I usher in new packaging, which allows the end user some re-usable packaging, as well as a far less full garbage can. I personally polled some of my original camera dealers and direct consumers and found out that nearly everyone completely thew away our fancy recycled packaging within 5 minutes of opening. When I reflect on the tons of packaging I paid for as a reluctant manufacturer, along with the shipping costs of said cardstock, it makes one realize the size of one’s massive ecologoical footprint, regardless of the “green” advice I’ve been given. So, with Adobe Illustrator in hand, I personally designed new slimmer header cards, with reclosable zip-lock bags. I hope that it’s more noticeable on the camera store shelves too, and allows you to see the actual product without opening.

I keep seeing the 2 packs of hard boiled eggs at the supermarket. Does the world really need a landfill full of plastic egg containers that were used only once to transport home?
Any effort to reduce packaging deserves to be applauded. Well done.
Well played! Thanks for taking the time and effort to make the world a better place.
Well done and thank you a million times over for bucking the trend and not using blister packs.
Great idea David!!!
smart !
David,
I think your packaging is a good move. All my current Honl Light Modifiers have been ported to HD Ziplock bags anyway. It makes a lot of sense to package them that way from the beginning. Well done.
