In an effort to start off my New Year’s resolution of practicing more lighting, I called model Tanje Solhem into the studio for some test shots. Pretty simple lighting using just 2 Nikon SB-900s, a prototype of my new diffuser as a mainlight, along with a 1/8 Speed Grid on the background.

Well, it looks like you’ve kicked off to meeting this new year’s resolution very early in 2010. More great lighting to you, David. Your work certainly leaves mine in the dark…
Ok, got my attention, new diffuser? Possibly a new Honl speedlight product to be on the market soon?
I am a big fan of the Honl flash accessories. The diffuser definitely intrigues. Brilliant lighting.
Great work David, thanks for the inspiration and motivation…
Hm … could this be a HonlPhoto Beauty Dish
Love it! Here is my try at something similar in B&W (HonlPhoto 1/8 Speed Grid as a main light, snoot with DIY grid on the background): http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=3292538&id=105872963854
David, looks great! can’t wait to see some more… and, can’t wait to try out the new diffuser!!!
That’s one nice looking portrait. Very sweet, beautiful light.
